Posted by Matt Rowson in Thoughts about things.
trackback

You’ll all be painfully aware of this… but there’s no shortage of players being linked with the Orns as we prepare for life in the Premier League.  Nobody of quite the status of Hristo Stoichkov or Lothar Matthäus as in 1999…  but an exotic bunch of names nonetheless.

Good commitment!

2. Mikey - 12/07/2015

Matt – excellent tracking!!!

I first became a Watford supporter when I was 11 years old …

Back in the day we had Jimmy, Bobby, Ken, George, Vince, Sammy, Mickey, Cliff, Dennis, Barry and … Freddie!
See – I remember the entire team from 1958-59-60!!!
How all the names have become richer over the years!

“There’s only one Giedrius Arlauskis …”
🙂

Matt Rowson - 12/07/2015

Thanks Mikey. Bit before my time that team… but folk who remember that team do seem to remember it well. There’s something a little bit merciless about being introduced to a team on a high ebb (early eighties for me). Your judgement is forever coloured…

3. Mike Smith - 27/07/2015

Yes I too remember that team. I was 14.
Surnames are Linton, Bell, Nicholas, Catlaugh, McNeice, Chung, Benning, Holton, Uphill, Hartle & Bunce.
No subs in those days & we changed from blue to old gold for the 59-60 season.
A tribute to Wolves I believe.
I still have a rattle that says Up the Blues!
And loads of programmes Over 950.
For all you youngsters (that’s those under 50) these are exciting heady days. I never thought I’d see a decent Stand on the East side & spending 10 million quid on 2 players. Enjoy,
Mike Smith
