The List (January edition) 05/01/2016

Posted by Matt Rowson in Thoughts about things.

You may remember last summer’s version of The List, which extended past 100 names by the end of that transfer window.  The list below will be updated until the window closes at the beginning of February;  as previously, I’m not going to attempt to validate or vet any rumours – a credibility bar for inclusion exists, but not set terribly high.  An Asterisk indicates a player who appeared in last summer’s list, but has resurfaced.  An “outgoing rumour” list is also included.

happy silly season everyone

2. Paul Caruso - 06/01/2016

Nathan Blissett has just become a free agent – we need back up for the forward two, parallel universe, lets really relive this 1980’s golden era experience and sign him up!

3. Harefield Hornet - 07/01/2016

I can’t stand the rumours surrounding our players, most of which are generated by bored hacks or over zealous agents. I wish the whole January transfer thing could be abolished! We’ve now got Iggy supposedly offering himself to manure and Troy saying his son wants him to join the arse! – is there anywhere safe to hide until the begining of Fenruary?

Matt Rowson - 07/01/2016

I fear that the alternative would be this sort of stuff on an ongoing basis.

Harefield Hornet - 07/01/2016

Yes that would be too horrific to even contemplate! I cannot recall for the life of me what happened in the old days? We’ve obviously always had transfers but what were the rules before the Premier League and Rupert Murdoch took over?!

4. Martin B - 07/01/2016

A couple of rumours you may have missed, both in the Guardian:
5 Jan – Capoue to Arsenal
6 Jan – Capoue to Man City

Matt Rowson - 08/01/2016

The Arsenal one was along the lines of “Some Arsenal fans think they should…”, which isn’t very far from “Arsenal have failed to deny an interest in…” admittedly but still hardly qualifies.

The Man City one was actually in regard to a possible swap deal with Milan for “former Man City star” Nigel de Jong.
