The List 2017. 22/05/2017

Let it not be said that we’re glad that’s all over…  but here’s your summer list of players linked with the Hornets since the close of the January window, a list that will be kept up to date throughout the summer so bookmark if you Like This Sort Of Thing.  A very low bar of credibility is employed, but a mere “I think Watford should sign…” falls below it.

I personally would hope we keep Success. That lad has got immense talent, and i believe he needs consistent game time to really come of age. I feel he never really got a good run of games to learn and get more confident. I certainly do not think that Mazzarri got the best out of him. Can you imagine what GT would have got from him. I feel he could b the best wide player we have had since the days of Cally and Digger.

PEDantic - 23/05/2017

I absolutely agree he should have had a run of games way before now. I would actually have like to see him given a try as a central speed merchant playing off Deeney, a la Vydra, once Zarate was injured. I have no idea if he would have the composure to finish chances off but a better bet than Niamh there I think. (He has a very long way to go to match Callaghan or Barnes however…)

I agree – just the type of player that centre halves would hate running at them.

He’s fast and he’s a unit – centre halves nightmare. In my opinion would be more effective playing down the middle rather than wide.

Goldenboy60 - 18/07/2017

Apologies for late reply and I so agree with you….. Yes of course he is a way off the likes of Cally and Barnes, but he is young and learning, and perhaps slightly different as well. He is strong, direct and a real handful. I think he can also play through the middle too. It will be interesting to see if Silva can get the best out of him, because he could be top class in my opinion.

quite the pointless addition, but I also saw Deeney linked with Birmingham and Leeds in August.

Matt Rowson - 05/09/2017

Yeah… again, the fluid credibility barrier comes into play here. The Leeds links came pretty exclusively from HITC, which is an absolutely nonsense site the content of which seems to suggest players that Leeds should sign. Playing to a niche audience, I suspect. Point is, it was “should sign” rather than “have been linked to”. So I excluded it.
